Reasons for participating in the call for proposals and interventions

PMP S.r.l. continues its path of technological innovation thanks to its participation in the Call for the Digital Transition of Businesses in Emilia-Romagna, an initiative aimed at supporting local companies in adopting digital solutions and modernising production processes. Through this project, the company has taken a new step in its path of growth and digitalisation, investing in the purchase of a new CNC sliding headstock machine tool with bar feeder, a latest-generation technology that will further improve efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.

A strategic investment in production innovation

The introduction of the new machine tool represents an important step forward in the technological upgrading process of PMP S.r.l., which has always placed great emphasis on innovation and optimisation of its production processes.

The new CNC sliding headstock will replace certain processes that currently require the use of multiple machine tools, allowing specific parts to be produced in a single machining stage. This will lead to a significant reduction in production times, resulting in increased productivity and greater efficiency in the use of company resources.

In addition, the new technology will enable the company to undertake processes that were previously less cost-effective or difficult to carry out, thus expanding production possibilities and improving competitiveness in the market.

An increasingly digital production process

PMP S.r.l. already has a large fleet of 29 CNC machine tools, including machining centres and lathes, which enable the production of even large precision components. The entire production process is managed through digital systems: from order receipt to delivery of the finished product. The company uses custom-developed ERP management software, which allows it to monitor and track every stage of production. Thanks to the use of barcodes associated with technical drawings, operators can constantly record and update the progress of the work. This system makes it possible to know at any time where a particular part is within the company, who is working on it and at what stage of the production cycle it is. The addition of the new machine tool will integrate perfectly into this already established digital ecosystem, helping to further increase the level of automation and traceability of the machining processes.

Greater efficiency and new production opportunities

One of the main advantages of the new technology is the possibility of concentrating multiple operations into a single process, thanks in part to the use of motorised tools.

This will allow you to:

  • significantly reduce production times

  • free up other machine tools for new processes

  • increase overall production capacity

  • efficiently manage longer batches

In addition, the machine will be equipped with an automatic bar loader, which will allow it to operate unattended for several hours a day, increasing actual production time without requiring the presence of operators.

Environmental and organisational benefits

The introduction of a new generation machine will bring benefits not only in terms of production, but also in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency.

The latest technologies allow for the optimisation of energy, coolant and lubricant use, reducing waste and improving the environmental impact of manufacturing processes.

There will also be significant advantages from an organisational point of view: reducing the number of steps between different machine tools will simplify the production flow and allow operators to work more efficiently and safely.

The continuous growth of the PMP group

PMP S.r.l currently has 56 employees, in addition to approximately 40 employees in its three subsidiaries, and serves customers in various industrial sectors, including:

  • automotive

  • packaging and automated logistics

  • hydraulics

  • goods handling

  • ceramic industry

In 2024, PMP S.r.l. handled over 9,500 production orders and also began a process of commercial expansion into foreign markets, particularly in Germany.

A glimpse into the future

The investment made thanks to the Call for Digital Transition represents a further step in the growth of PMP S.r.l., which continues to invest in advanced technologies, digitalisation and production innovation.

The aim is to constantly improve the company’s performance, increase its competitiveness on the market and offer its customers increasingly efficient, accurate and reliable solutions.
